Department of Governance and Public Policy
Governance and public policy find common ground in their study of the state, government, non-governmental organizations, multilateral institutions, United Nations agencies and politics in general. Scholarship, research and interest in the Department focuses on the science and art of government, the form, policies, organization and administration of the state, and the regulation of state relations with other states and non-governmental organizations. The Department of Governance and Public Policy is the University’s centre for leadership training. It is constituted to provide knowledge and skills that target the honing of practitioners in the broad areas of governance and administration. It further aims to train individuals to enable the community deal with various challenges. Through the teaching of Emergency and Disaster Management, the Department prepares learners psychologically and intellectually to face and help others negotiate calamities at individual and collective levels. The Department further trains learners in matters of international concerns, including diplomacy, peace and security, international relations, governance, leadership, public administration, political studies and conflict Management.
